Employment issues have always been a minefield for employers. With the extensive powers of inspection and auditing the National Employments Rights Authority (NERA) have and the increasing litigiousness of our society, an employer must be even more vigilant to ensure that they are compliant with the onerous legal duties imposed upon them. The primary difficulty is that an employment issue may, for example, involve several separate pieces of legislation, from Equality, Health & Safety Legislation and registered employment agreements to the Unfair Dismissals Acts and the Redundancy Acts not to mention European directives and Constitutional rights, each of which requires expert handling. It is for this reason that Nicholas Hughes B.C.L and William Joyce, B.A. (Law), Dip Comm. Law came together to create the Employment Clinic. Employment Clinic will act as a first port of call for employers and employees looking to find out about their rights or pursue an employment law matter, even as far as the Courts. Employment Clinic is a comprehensive Employment Law consultancy service which will be of benefit to both employers and employees. The Employment Clinic differs from a solicitor’s firm for a number of reasons, including accessibility and transparency. But the main difference is in the price. Initial consultations with The Employment Clinic cost from €75 + VAT, and most issues can be resolved at this early stage. Whether you are an employer or an employee, you can set up an appointment at one of these clinics to sound out a particular issue regarding Employment Law. You can also email your query direct to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The process is simple. Employers and employees can make an enquiry, giving their name, their contact details and a brief description of their issue. Assuming that the Employment Clinic’s consultants see merit in the enquiry, they will invite the party to one of their Clinics, where the issue is addressed in greater detail. At the clinic the employer/employee will see a legally trained Employment Law expert, who will generally be able to propose a solution – in many cases a resolution can be achieved from the information given at this initial consultation. The Employment Clinic can also provide clients with a dispute resolution and on-site mediation service. The Employment Clinic also recognises the difficulties than many employers have in ensuring that they remain in compliance with the law. Many employers are unwittingly falling foul of legislation for the simple reason that there are so many different facets of the Law to consider. But the Employment Clinic offers what it calls an “Employment Audit” which can take a detailed look at an employer’s situation and advise them of what needs to be done to remain in compliance. Employment Clinic is comprised of qualified legal and HR Professionals and is not a solicitors firm. |
